By accessing or using NameRight ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

NameRight is a document guidance and preparation platform that helps individuals navigate the legal name and gender marker change process in the United States. We provide:

• State- and county-level filing guidance based on publicly available court records
• Personalized checklists, form preparation tools, and document templates
• Privacy path analysis and readiness scoring
• Policy change alerts and institution update guidance

NameRight is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Our tools are informational only. Always verify current requirements with your local court before filing. For legal advice, consult a licensed attorney — many LGBTQ+ legal organizations offer free consultations.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and make purchases. If you are under 18, you may use the free tier with parental consent.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@nameright.app if you suspect unauthorized access.

NameRight offers one-time purchase plans. Payments are processed by Creem (Merchant of Record) or PayPal. By completing a purchase, you agree to the applicable payment processor's terms.

All prices are in USD. We reserve the right to change pricing at any time; changes will not affect purchases already completed.

Refunds: All purchases are one-time payments. No subscription, no auto-renewal. We offer a 7-day refund if you have not accessed your county-specific materials or generated any documents. All purchases are non-refundable after accessing personalized materials or generating documents. To request a refund, email support@nameright.app within 7 days of purchase with your order ID. You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy our guidance database
• Share account credentials with others
• Submit false information that could mislead other users or our systems
• Use the Service in any way that could harm, disable, or impair it

All content on NameRight — including guidance text, tool logic, UI design, and branding — is owned by NameRight and protected by copyright. You may not reproduce or redistribute our content without written permission.

Document templates provided to you as part of your plan are licensed for your personal, non-commercial use in your own name change process.

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the guidance provided is complete, error-free, or current for every jurisdiction. Court requirements change frequently — always verify with your local court before filing.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, NameRight shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including court filing errors, rejected applications, or any outcome of your name change process.

Our total liability for any claim arising from your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid for your plan.

You agree to indemnify NameRight from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Service.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may cancel your account at any time from Settings. Termination does not entitle you to a refund except as provided in our Refund Policy.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of San Francisco County, California.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email and by updating this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
